Windows 8 cannot be installed to this Disk <\/strong><\/p>\n

Error Details:<\/strong> Windows 8 in unable to install to the selected location. Error: 0x80300001<\/p>\n

How to resolve this Error: 0x80300001<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Power down your computer.<\/li>\n
  2. Open-up your computer case.<\/li>\n
  3. Disconnect the power from all hard drives except<\/strong> for the hard drive you want to install Windows 7 or 8 on.<\/li>\n
  4. Ensure you have no other hard drive or solid state media such as a USB memory stick or flash card installed.<\/li>\n
  5. Power on your computer.<\/li>\n
  6. Boot from the Windows Installation CD.<\/li>\n
  7. You can now install Windows 7 or 8 on the intended hard drive. (If your HDD or RAID virtual disk does not appear, you need to install drivers, see below)<\/li>\n
  8. After installation, power down your computer, open the case and reconnect the power to all of your hard drives.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Additional Install Tips for Error: 0x80300001<\/strong><\/p>\n

      \n
    1. Ensure your primary HDD is not attached to an eSATA port<\/li>\n
    2. Ensure your SATA Controller is set to AHCI or RAID mode<\/li>\n
    3. Ensure you do not have your CD\/DVD\/BlueRay Drive attached to your SATA 3 or eSATA controller. This drive type should only be connected to the SATA 2 controller.<\/li>\n
    4. If you are using a SATA 3 HDD on a SATA 3 controller then do not use a hard drive enclosure casing. One type of enclosure is ICYDOCK. This will cause HDD instabilities and system crashes.<\/li>\n
    5. You may need to load drivers for the SATA 3 controller especially for RAID configurations. Load the drivers from the motherboard CD, or USB memory stick.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      I had a similar problem, here are the steps I took to solve it.<\/p>\n

      1) At Windows 7,8 start screen (after language selection) hit SHIFT-F10 to get command prompt.<\/p>\n

      2) Run the following commands:
      \ndiskpart
      \nlist disk
      \nselect disk 0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 (your disk may be a different number)
      \nclean
      \ncreate partition primary
      \nexit\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 (exits diskpart)
      \nexit\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 (exits command prompt)<\/p>\n

      3) Run setup. Setup says cannot install to the drive.<\/p>\n

      4) Reboot computer.<\/p>\n

      5) Run setup as normal and everything works.\u00a0 Windows 7,8 setup creates and formats the partition automatically.<\/p>\n
